About the talk: There are many ways to write a book, and in this session three local novelists, plus author Claire Fuller, explore their writing process, offering encouragement, helpful suggestions and inspiration to any writer, whether at the beginning of their book writing journey or well advanced on the road to publication. The panel will cover how to start, character development, problem-solving, writer’s block and other topics.

About the talk: Katie Fulford spent her career heading various departments of HarperCollins, she is now a literary agent at Bell Lomax Moreton. With 30 years’ experience at the top of the book publishing industry, she will be discussing with novelist Judith Heneghan what agents and publishers are looking for when deciding whether to publish a book, covering topics such as why you need a literary agent and what they do, how best to increase your chances of getting a book deal, and current trends in book publishing.

About the talk: Author Judith Heneghan will be in conversation with book publishing expert Scott Pack and Natasha Poliszczuk, journalist, editor, book reviewer and social media book influencer, to answer some of the many questions that writers have about the realities of the publishing industry and how best to market and promote your book. The discussion will include what to do if you can’t find an agent, how to approach self publishing, and using social media. Questions for the panel can be sent in on registration for the event.
